Our 1st family camping trip

We were brave and adventurous. We packed up the car and the kids and went camping for 2 days and 2 nights. The kids were so excited to go camping. They have a book about a daddy taking a boy camping and setting up a tent and cooking dinner... but in the book the mommy doesn't go. The boys were very surprised to hear that I was going too. I later learned that my main job on the trip was to document it.

The boys really had a blast with their daddy. They had so much fun being able to run around and explore. Everything was new to them. Ant hills, pine cones, pine needles, and most importantly peeing on trees! Their favorite part of the trip is unanimously agreed to be the part when we roasted marshmellows in the fire. They also had a blast sleeping in the tent. Daddy made sure to pack an air mattress for mommy (now 7 months pregnant)

The boys went for boat rides with Daddy. I would have gone too but the limit was 4 to a boat. So I decided the best plan was to rent the boat for 2hrs and have daddy take one boy at a time for about 25 min each then all 3 together. My job was to stay on shore with the others and play at the playground while they waited for their turn. They were so adorable in their little life jackets. They were terrified but each of them tried their best to be brave. When Ben came off the boat he said to me "Mommy, I was so brave and I didn't cry!"

There was a path leading from our campsite to the lake where Daddy took the kids to feed the ducks and of course to throw rocks into the water. We brought soccer balls and a Frisbee and a kite. The boys really had some quality time together. It was fun to watch.

We'll do it again but probably not for a little while since baby boy #4 is joining our family in about 9 weeks.
